Hiring 2 High School Assistants!
We are currently looking for 2 high school students, who enjoy working with kids to work for the After School Program. These are paid positions, and students would work about 6 hours a week. Their duties would include escorting students to activities, helping with homework, working with volunteers and facilitating activities.

About the After School Program!
Our goal for the program is to provide academic support, informal skill learning and recreational opportunities in a safe, caring environment to all students in 3rd through 6th grades in Dayton. The program is free of charge.


The Program is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-5pm. The program is offered in 3 terms: Fall, Winter and Spring.

Fall: Will begin on Tuesday, September 19th and end on Thursday, November 16th. There will be no After School Program on October 24, 25 and 26, due to school conferences.

Winter: Will begin on Tuesday, January 9th and end on Thursday March 8th.

Spring: Will begin on Tuesday, March 27th and end on Thursday May 31st.

If there is no school then the after school program will not be in session on the given day.

The daily schedule will be similar to this:
3:00 PM          Students dismissed from school

3:00-3:15 PM  Students will meet outside the elementary school on the blacktop near the playground and receive snacks and drinks

3:15-3:45 PM  Academic Support: students who need extra help in math and reading will receive the help they need, while other students participating in the program will have time to complete homework with volunteers to help if needed.

3:45-4:00 PM  Transition to activities

4:00-5:00 PM  Activities (see below for program offerings)

5:00-5:15 PM  Students return to front of elementary school and are released

*** Please note the program offerings listed above are subject to change based on availability of facilitates and facilitators



*** Some activities have a cap on how many students can participate in the activity. We will do our best to give your student their first choices but activities are on a first come first serve basis.



***The activity they choose for each day will be the activity they will remain in for the current term



Activities rotate depending on volunteer availability, season of the year, access to program materials, and interests of participants. Activities will be facilitated by Monica Mitchell; the After School Program Director. We depend on community volunteers as well as paid staff to help with coordination of activities, facilities, registration, maintaining program records, and supervising student volunteers.
